For the past two years, I’ve been the Membership and Development Coordinator at KMUD, a 37-year-old rural community radio station. Before stepping into this role, I volunteered as a programmer at KMUD. While I’m relatively new to my position, I’ve been fortunate to work closely with two dedicated committees: the Membership Drive Committee and the Development Committee. These committees include experienced volunteers who’ve generously shared their knowledge with me. KMUD still relies on traditional fundraising methods like on-air membership drives, events, tabling, and selling merchandise. However, we’re actively exploring new strategies as times are becoming increasingly challenging.
